RE100 Electric Power Collaborates with Deloitte Tohmatsu Together with Japan Energy Total System (JPN) to Further Optimize Operations of the Kirishima Battery Storage Facility

RE100 Electric Power Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Katsuhiro Konishi; hereinafter “RE100 Electric Power”), which serves as the aggregation operator for Kirishima Battery Storage GK*1, announces that Deloitte Tohmatsu Consulting LLC (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Yusuke Kamiyama; hereinafter “Deloitte Tohmatsu”), a member of the Deloitte Tohmatsu Group, has joined the operations of the facility based on an agreement with group company Japan Energy Total System Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture; Representative Director: Seiji Kurobuchi; hereinafter “JPN”).
In this project, RE100 Electric Power is responsible for aggregation, while Deloitte Tohmatsu provides operational support for the battery storage facility. JPN handles EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) and O&M (Operations & Maintenance), leveraging the strengths of each party to advance the sophistication of the business.
Background and Purpose
As Japan progresses toward achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and the adoption of renewable energy accelerates, the importance of battery storage capable of flexible charging and discharging has grown for ensuring stable electricity supply. Meanwhile, in financing to drive business expansion, revenue uncertainty can pose a significant hurdle.
To address this challenge, RE100 Electric Power leverages its core strength in aggregation to maximize revenue, thereby lowering barriers to entry for new participants. Furthermore, with Deloitte Tohmatsu joining the operations of the Kirishima Battery Storage Facility based on an agreement with group company JPN, it becomes possible to support operators and financial institutions in making earlier investment and financing decisions. We are confident this will contribute to accelerating the adoption of grid-scale battery storage businesses.
Future Outlook
Through this collaboration, Kirishima Battery Storage GK aims to further optimize operations and maximize revenue at the Kirishima Battery Storage Facility, while also encouraging new business entries to contribute to the expansion of renewable energy adoption and the realization of a sustainable society.
