RE100 Electric Power Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Katsuhiro Konishi; hereinafter “RE100 Electric Power”) has commenced provision of its “Self-Wheeling Operations Agency Service”*2 for Maruei Towel Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture; Representative Director: Takuya Murakami). The service enables the delivery of electricity from a solar power plant owned by the company to its remote headquarters factory via self-wheeling*1. This marks the first instance of this service being offered within the Shikoku Electric Power service area.

This project involves self-wheeling electricity from a solar power plant in Niihama City, Ehime Prefecture, to the headquarters factory in Imabari City. Any shortfall in supply is supplemented through load-following supply from a retail electricity provider.
Additionally, through a framework that effectively utilizes the environmental value of renewable energy, the environmental value of this electricity is recycled and leveraged, while also achieving electricity cost reduction and mitigation of power procurement risks. This model has attracted attention as one that reconciles corporate economic rationality with decarbonized management.
RE100 Electric Power provides a surplus electricity purchase service for excess power generated on non-operating days at the headquarters factory. Acting as an aggregator, the company supports the ongoing implementation of self-wheeling and, through this service, will continue to contribute to the expansion of renewable energy utilization and optimization of supply-demand balance.
*1 A power procurement method in which electricity generated by a company’s own power generation facility is delivered to facilities in other regions using the transmission and distribution network owned by the transmission and distribution utility.
